Curtis was born March 26, 1939 in Live Oak, Florida the son of the late Charles Edward McCall and the late Lela Driggers McCall. He was also preceded in death by nine of his siblings.
Curtis served his country with honor in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after twenty years of faithful service. He was a well decorated Chief Warrant Officer 2 with the following commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal (3 Awards), Meritorious Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea).
After his retirement from the United States Army, He was the owner of Badcock Furniture in Vidalia, Georgia for over thirty years. He also received several awards in the Furniture Industry. Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Joanie McCall of Brunswick, GA; one daughter, Laurie McCall Wright (Steve) of Brunswick, GA; a son, Kerry McCall (Beth) of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Holly Wright Hickman (Joshua), Emily McCall, Jennifer Wright Myer (Jamie), Benjamin Wright (Sundy); five precious great grandchildren and one sister, Lessie V Parker, and several nieces and nephews.
Curtis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to talk about and restore classic cars. His favorite was his 57 Chevy that he had for over 45 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
The family will receive friends between 12:00 – 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Service to honor Curtis’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Wright Culpepper officiating. The burial will follow the service in Chapel Park Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
