

Darlene was an aviation enthusiast, a passionate bibliophile, and an avid quilter. She enjoyed being active in multiple social clubs and found deep peace and joy living on St. Simons Island.
She is survived by her beloved son, Robert, who was shaped by her constant encouragement and unconditional love. Her pride in him, affectionately known as Robbie, was boundless. Darlene also welcomed his wife, Alexandria, as a daughter with open arms. She is survived by her sisters, Doris and Deborah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Diane, and her husband, Richard.
Darlene was a woman of remarkable strength and quiet courage. She met life’s challenges with unwavering determination, grace, and an indomitable spirit. Her resilience and warmth inspired those around her and left a lasting imprint on many hearts.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the St. Simons Island Land Trust or the Scottish Terrier Rescue of the Southeast. A heartfelt thanks goes out to the staff of the Southeast Georgia Health System and Hospice of the Golden Isles for their compassionate care.
