

David Morris Capps, 70, of Fernandina Beach, FL passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. A native of Kannapolis, NC, David was born to the late Chandler Hamilton Capps, JR and the late Lera Helen Crowe Capps. David lived many years in Brunswick, GA before moving to Fernandina Beach, FL where he presently resided. He was a 1965 graduate of Glynn Academy and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War as SSGT with the Military Police from 1966-1970. David was owner of Caribbean Breeze, but for most of his working career, he was involved in automotive sales. He was also a member of Glynn Baptist Church. David enjoyed fishing, golfing, and having lunch with his buddies.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother Stevie Capps, his Step-Mother Winifred Capps and his Step-Sister Anita Cotney Jones.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Capps of Fernandina Beach, FL; Son Bryan (B.T.) Thompson of St. Simons Island, GA; Two Sisters Pam Capps Allred and husband Jim of Interlachen, FL, Chandra Capps Kendall and husband Steve of St. Simons Island, GA; Step-Sister Andrea Kennison and husband David of Naples, FL; Five Brother-In-Laws Elton Stubbs and wife Peggy, John Stubbs and wife Marie, Bobby Stubbs and wife Merry, Richard Stubbs and wife Debby, and Jimmy Stubbs all of St. Simons Island, GA; Sister-in-Law Cindy Williams and husband Ricky of St. Simons Island, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In order to honor David’s request the family ask that the attire be casual at the service.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 17, 2016, 10:00 A.M., in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Darrell Joiner officiating. Inurnment will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA with military honors at 1:00 P.M.
