

Dorothy Allison “Dotty” McDougall, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Hospice of The Golden Isles in Brunswick, Georgia after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. William L. “Bill” McDougall, Jr. of St. Simons Island ; a daughter Sheldon Imperatori, also of St. Simons; a grandson Chris Jagger of Atlanta and a sister, Ann Bracey also of Atlanta.
As a sign of things to come, Dotty was crowned “Little Miss Lawrenceville” at age 6. She never made less than an “A” in school, and was the star of her high school basketball team. Named Valedictorian, she went to Agnes Scott College, where she excelled.
Mrs. McDougall was very active in the Junior League for years. She went on to found the Auxiliary of the West Paces Medical Center in 1973. Dotty was also elected as the Auxiliary’s first president.
For many years, Dotty was asked to plan meals, speakers, entertainment and lodging for medical events in the Atlanta area in which Bill was involved.
Mrs. McDougall’s hobbies included world travel, photography, fishing, reading and ping-pong (which she played avidly until a month before her death).
Visitation will be at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 4PM until 6PM; a Memorial service will be held at 2PM Sunday afternoon, July 22, 2012 at Frederica Presbyterian Church on St. Simons, presided over by Reverend Andy Chambers; Entombment services will be at 2PM Monday, July 23, 2012 in Westview Abbey Mausoleum Chapel, with Reverend Sherri Smith officiating.
