

Doug was born August 14, 1960, to Rita and the late Leo C. McKinney in Dayton, OH.
Doug served his country as a Security Specialist of the US Air Force from June, 1981 to June, 1985, receiving the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Good Conduct Medal. Doug continued his service with a commitment to keeping the communities of Glynn County safe for 17 years in various law enforcement roles with the Glynn County Police Department. Doug’s home church of worship was Northside Baptist Church. Doug’s favorite pastime was golfing with his wife, other family golfers, and dearest of friends, Bob Berry.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, his aspiration, Leo C. McKinney. Survivors of this great man are his wife, Carla Lee; daughter, Tara Lynn (James) Grubb, step-son, Justin Ray (Ashlie) Simmons; two sisters, Theresa Koch, Marianne (Joe) Kynett; two brothers, Tom Walker, Leo (Ruth) McKinney; four grandchildren, Caitlyn Ann Clay, Ava Elizabeth Simmons, Aiden Baughn, and Noah Grubb; mother, Rita (McDaniels) McKinney, and was blessed with numerous loved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends between 4-7p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Service to honor Doug’s life will be held at 2p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Northside Baptist Church, 935 Chapel Crossing Rd. Pastor Craig Hartzog and Reverend Randy Lamb will officiate the service. Doug will be interred in a family plot at Willow View Cemetery in Dayton, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Golden Isle, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
