Edgar Ray Garris, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2014. Ray was born on October 7, 1939 in Brunswick, GA. After graduating from Glynn Academy High School in 1957, Ray went on to play football at Clemson University where he graduated in 1966. Ray was an avid sports fan, including encouraging his children and grandchildren in all of their athletic pursuits.
After a 25-year career, he retired from IBM in Boulder, CO and moved to St. Augustine Beach, FL in 1997. He enjoyed boating, fishing, cooking and entertaining, where he would spotlight local seafood recipes and his secret sauces.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years, Marilyn, and his children Cindy, Michael (Julie), Matthew and Stephen Garris, brother Herman “Tomboy” Garris (Connie) and family , and grandchildren Casey Rozier and Kellen Garris.
A Celebration of Ray’s Life will be held at the Edo Miller Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, GA on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
