

He was born in Montgomery, Alabama January 30, 1929 to the late James Emmitt Johnson and the late Delia Martin Johnson. Emory was employed by the United States Postal Service as a postman, and was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to Emory‘s parents he is preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Gibbs: his second wife Evelyn Rhodes: and two step-children, Cheryl Shupe and Bobby Shupe.
Survivors include Emory’s son Jeffery Lee Johnson and wife Allison and grandchildren, Kirby and Phoebe of St. Augustine, FL: son, Dale Emory Johnson and granddaughter, Abbi Bennett of Sarasota, FL and three step-daughters, Patti Crawford, Mitzi Smith, and Barbara Hilley, of Brunswick, GA and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Brunswick, GA and Sarasota, FL.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., Brunswick, Georgia.
A graveside service is to be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at East Palmetto Cemetery, 3412 Ross Rd. Brunswick, Georgia. Emory will be laid to rest following the service by his wife Betty Jean Gibbs.
