

Ernest “Cigar” Stephens Sr., 83, of Brunswick, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at the SGHS in Brunswick. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 28, 2013, 2 p.m. in the chapel of Edo Miller & Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Hinton Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Westley Davis, Tommy Lockhart, Ernie Stephens III, Austin Lockhart, Tommy Lockhart III, and William Easlic III. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Muggridge, Wayne Prosser, Danny Gatewood, Stevie Stephens, Scott Stephens, Christy Stephens Buie, employess of Fleet Transport, Bobby Sapp, and Dr. Mitchell Jones.
Mr. Stephens was born February 28, 1930 in Jesup, Georgia to Samuel R. and Fannie J. Stephens, he was a long time resident of Brunswick living here most of his life. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Stephens was a self employed truck driver and enjoyed gardening, fishing, NASCAR, and spending time with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Jurldeen Stephens, a second wife Betty Stephens, and a brother Sam Stephens.
Mr. Stephens is survived by three daughters, Margaret Stephens Allen (Kelly), Katherine Davis (Grover), and Karen Stephens (Gary), all of Brunswick, two sons, Ernest Stephens Jr. and Glen Stephens, both also of Brunswick, eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two step-children Foster McNabb of Brantley County, Robin Pickren of Brunswick, two brothers Lynch Stephens, and Edward Stephens, both of Brunswick, several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
