Eula Lenora Wood Wells

Mrs. Wells was a native of Gordon, Georgia and had been a resident of Brunswick most of her life. She attended ABAC College and was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a master degree and education specialist in Elementary education. Mrs. Wells was employed with the Glynn County Board of Education for over 30 years, and was District and State Teacher of the Year. After retiring from Glynn County, she taught adult Literacy classes in Fitzgerald for 9 years. Mrs. Wells was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa and former president of the Georgia Association of Educators.

Mrs. Wells was a former resident of Jacksonville, Ga., a member of the Georgia Lions Club and became President of the Lions Club at the age of 82. She was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Brunswick and the Block House Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ga.

She loved to fish and to read. She loved to cook and was a fabulous southern cook. She baked cakes and pies, decorated for small wedding receptions and loved to work with flowers. She had a gentle spirit and a place in her heart for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Brook Wells and her parents, John and Spella West Wood.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Robbie Wells and Phillip Strickland of Valdosta, Ga., a son, Jimmy Michael Wells of Brunswick, grandchildren, Christopher B. Wells of Brunswick, Phillip Joel Strickland of Loganville, Ga., and Laurie Strickland Eddy of Valdosta, Ga., great grandchildren, Jasper Cole Strickland and Kora Addy Strickland and Phillip Cash Strickland all of Loganville, Ga., great grandchildren, Megan Brock Hall, Alden Jean Eddy, Jayla Eddy and Josh Eddy all of Valdosta, Ga., five sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Saturday July 17, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church in Brunswick with Rev. Ron Stinson officiating. Interment will follow at 5:30 pm Saturday in the Blockhouse Baptist Church Cemetery in Jacksonville, Ga.

Active pallbearers will be: Christopher Wells, Joel Strickland, Phil Strickland, Lamar Floyd, Herbert Rogers and Mike Wells.

Visitation was held from 6 pm unitl 8 pm Friday at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA.
