Franklin James Curtis Sr.

Mr. Curtis was a World War II wounded veteran in the Division of Mines and Demolition. He saw action in Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany. He also was involved with the D-Day invasion and was a three time Purple Heart recipient. His platoon received a Distinguished Unit Citation from the President of the United States.

Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Military, Mr. Curtis attended college and obtained his B.A. in Business from the University of Arizona. After graduation, he joined his brother at the Wrayswood Plantation in Georgia, where they farmed sheep and cattle. He then joined his older brother in the family business of printing at Curtis 1000, Inc. in Atlanta, GA, where he rose to CEO of the business. Upon his retirement, he and his loving wife sailed the seas in which he was the boat’s captain.

Mr. Curtis was born on February 27, 1923 in Hartford, CT to the late Henry Sr. and Buford B. Curtis. He will be reuniting with his parents and two brothers, Henry Curtis Jr. and Richard Curtis, in death.

Mr. Curtis will be missed by his loving wife of seventy years, Dorothy B. Curtis; his three sons, Franklin J. Curtis Jr. (Jaime), Robert Curtis, and Charles Curtis (Sandy); his two daughters, Carol Curtis Meares (Don), and Peggy Curtis. Also left to cherish his memories are his 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Curtis is also survived by a host of caring nieces and nephews, and a loving caregiver and friend, Marjorie Hardee.

Mr. Curtis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come. Fair winds and calm seas, Pop.
