

Gene Morrison, 79, of Brunswick, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at SGHS Brunswick Campus. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Monday, September 26, 2011 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Grotheer officiating. Interment will follow at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Nick Lee, Alex Lee, Garrett Lee, Gary Lee, Warren Spradley and Mike Dunne. Artie Bierlein and Bo Green will serve as honorary pallbearers. He was born on December 2, 1931 in Knoble, Arkansas to the late George Morrison and Jessie Mae Robinson. Mr. Morrison served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the 75th Fighter Squadron. He was of the Methodist faith and was also a member of the Grumman Retiree Club. Gene was an avid gardener, loved to work on home improvements and his automobiles, and also enjoyed many sports, boating, reading, but more than anything Gene cherished the time he spent with his family and close friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step father, Elmo Garrett, who was very influential in Gene's life, a brother, George Morrison, and a half brother, Phillip Morrison. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Muriel A. Morrison of Brunswick, one daughter, Lori Lee and husband Nick of Brunswick, three grandchildren, Alex Lee and wife Meagan, Amanda Lee, and Garrett Lee, two half sisters, Martha Ann Waymire of Bella Vista, AR, and Marilyn Hensel of San Diego, CA. The family will receive friends Monday, September 26, 2011 from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Assocoiation.
