George Hindman Anderson

George leaves behind a loving wife of 36 years, Lisa Marriott Anderson, three children, Kitty Hazelkorn (Michael) of St. Simons Island, George Barry Anderson of Atlanta, Ga., and Mindy Clorrocco (Dan) of Jasper, Ga., his sister, Beverly Johns (Bob) of Memphis, TN, his two grandchildren, Ben and Rebeccah Hazelkorn and his former wife, Jane Dollar of Oxford, MS.

After attending Memphis State, George got his start in business, working alongside his father, as a hardware rep. This led him to become a toy manufacturer’s rep and then a plush toy manufacturer, with offices in Hong Kong and factory in China.

As the toy industry began to change, George transformed his company into a home building operation in Highlands, N.C. and moved this enterprise to St. Simons Island in 2004. As he liked to say, he retired four times, but kept finding something else he felt he needed to do! George was an active member of the St. Simons United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Hopkin Anderson, his mother, Selma Laverne Anderson and his aunt, May Hindman.

George’s Memorial Service will be held January 26th, at 11 AM in the sanctuary at St. Simons United Methodist Church with a reception to follow in the Gholson Room. The Reverend Marcia Cochran will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made in George’s name to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga., 31525 or St. Simons United Methodist Church, 624 Ocean Blvd., St. Simons Island, Georgia 31522.
