Gertrude Slaughter Roberts

Gertrude Slaughter Roberts, 92, of Jesup, formerly of Brunswick, departed this life Monday, February, 14, 2022 at Harborview Nursing Home in Jesup. Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Church. Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery. Mark Fried, Scott Brandies, Chad Dean, Jobie Smith, Paul Roberts, and Bobby Evans will serve as pallbearers.

Born September 10, 1929 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late William Howard and Edna S. Slaughter, she was a graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 1947. She worked as an office manager for Auten Insurance Company. Mrs. Roberts was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and had lived most of her life in Glynn County. Mrs. Roberts was an avid fan of UGA Football, the Atlanta Braves and Jacksonville Jaguars. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Hope Roberts, Jr., a daughter, Jo Ann Smith, a son, Paul Edwin Roberts, a brother, Joe Slaughter, and two sisters, Julia Howell and Lucille Drury.

Survivors include a son, Harold Hope “Red” Roberts, III and wife Stephanie of Nashville, TN, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a sister Mary Edna Anglin of Jesup, a daughter in law, Beth Roberts of Columbus, GA, a son in law, Joe Smith of Orlando, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
