

Greanel Spell Tuttle, 80, of Brunswick, GA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters on Friday, March 20, 2015 under the care of the Hospice of the Golden Isles. A native of Lyons, Georgia, she had been a resident of Glynn County most of her life. She was born May 2, 1934, the daughter of the late Jay Grean Spell and Nell Hardy Spell Kluber. Greanel attended Glynn Academy and graduated from her beloved Martha Berry School for Girls. She was chosen "Most Dramatic" in "Who's Who" in her senior class and was a member of the Beauty Court. She was also President of the Future Farmers of America. As a member of the Berry Alumni Association she continued through the years to return for work week and class reunions. Greanel taught dancing in Tifton, Georgia before moving to Brunswick in 1956. She continued to dance with the Brunswick Follies. Greanel was a very active member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Choir. Her love of music began when she was at Berry School, where she sang in the choir as a member of Mt. Berry Church. Greanel had a passion for singing, dancing, poetry, painting, and was an avid reader. Greanel studied art under well-known artist Kyung Ai Mock-Park. She would eventually teach and enjoyed sharing her love of painting with others. Her paintings of Nature, Wildlife, and Beach Scenes were commissioned from New York to Miami. Greanel was a certified Miss USA Beauty pageant judge. She coached Glynn County’s Representative in the Miss Georgia pageant. Through the years Greanel was a member of the Brunswick Junior Women’s Club and American Business Women’s Association. She also volunteered as a pink lady and modeled in many local fashion shows. Greanel retired from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynn County; where she was the Administrative Assistant to the Federal Firearms Instructor. She often traveled to Washington, D.C. to work at the Capitol. During her tenure with FLETC she received many outstanding awards and accolades.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Glenn Tuttle, stepfather Harold Oswald Dunn, and younger brother William (Billy) Oscar Spell.
Survivors include her two daughters Terry Tuttle Smith and husband Stacy Gregg, and Shan Tuttle Langford, grandson Zachary Tuttle Langford and wife Ashley, great granddaughter Abbey Elizabeth Langford; sister -in - law Penny Spell Cotton; several special nieces and nephews; and loving friends Barbara “Bobbie” Wilson of Brunswick and Betty Ann Bell of Atlanta.
The family of Greanel would like to extend their sincere thank you to Dr. William G. Grubb and Staff, Dr. Lana T. Skelton and Staff and appreciation beyond measure to the gentle, compassionate, and caring staff of the Hospice of the Golden Isles who are truly blessed with something special.
The family is forever grateful for all of the love, support, comforting thoughts and prayers extended from those who have walked this journey with them.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 23, 2015, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Hurst officiating. Entombment will follow the service at the Mausoleum of Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Douglas Tuttle, Lee Spell, Billy Spell, Robert Upchurch, Delmer Fennel, and Jeff Riggins.
