He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Patty Hughes Bolinger; a daughter, Jeannie Hopkins and husband, Mike; two granddaughters, Haven Hopkins and Avery Hopkins; a grandson, Dawson Lane; and favorite furry friend, Precious. James is also survived by a former wife, Martha Bolinger; and two sons, James Jr. and Joe Bolinger; and one granddaughter, Kimsey Bolinger; one sister, Elizabeth Falls and husband, Jerry; a foster sister, Lisa Hampton; and numerous other family members, church family and foster family members. He will be especially missed by his first foster caregiver, June Ham, who affectionately called him "Baby Jimmy."
James is preceded in death by his mother, Necie Brown; and one daughter, Angie Johnson.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Golden Isles Christian Church, with Willie Downs officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
