

Jane Ellen Thomas, 76, of Sea Island, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at her residence. The family will have a celebration of life service Friday, June 21, 2013, 11 AM at St. William Catholic Church with Msgr. John Kenneally officiating, with a reception to follow. Inurnment will be at Christ Church Columbarium following the reception.
Jane was born June 14, 1937 to the late Andrew and Jessie Morris in New York City. She was a native of Long Island, New York but lived on Sea Island for the past 16 years. She graduated from Flushing Hospital Medical Center School of Nursing and from University of North Carolina as a nurse practitioner. She was employed as a Medical Surgical Nurse at Flushing Hospital in New York , then a Ship Nurse for the Moore McCormick Lines and also worked as an employee of United States State Department as Nurse Practitioner. She had the opportunity to live in many countries as a Nurse, including Europe, Africa and the Mideast. She was also a member of St. William Catholic Church.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Robert Max Thomas. She is survived by her sister: Andrea Keneally (Patrick) of Setauket, NY; her step daughter: Karen Fesmire (Dr. William “Bill”); two step grandchildren: Maggie and Witt Fesmire; her nieces: Kara Persoons (James) Kayleen Yates (Paul) and her two nephews: Patrick Keneally III (Kimberly) and Michael Keneally; Grand nieces and nephews: Kevin and Kacey Keneally, Olivia Persoons and Conner and Kenly Yates.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Heartland Hospice 664 Scranton Road # 103 Brunswick, GA 31520 or to St. William Catholic Church 2300 Frederica Road St. Simon Island, GA 31522.
