Dr. Jay Allen Weinstein, Ph.D., 75, of St. Simons Island, departed this life Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, March 13, 2017 in Palmetto Cemetery with Rabbi Rachel Bregman officiating.
Born February 23, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edward L. and Jacqueline K. Weinstein, he was a retired professor from Eastern Michigan University, and was a lecturer at Coastal College in Brunswick. He had been a resident of Glynn County since 2010, and was a member of Temple Beth Tefilloh in Brunswick. Professor Weinstein’s passions included the sociological study of altruism, playing guitar, and kayaking the the marshes of Glynn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn S. Weinstein
Survivors include two children, Bennett Weinstein and wife Lisa of Atlanta, Liza Weinstein and husband John Myers of Boston, MA, three grandchildren, Eleanor Weinstein, Avi Myers, and Marcus Myers, a sister Deni Dreazen and husband Jeff of Miami, and an aunt, Muriel Rosenbaum and family of Chicago.
