

Jewell Martin Williams Dunning passed away February 23, 2012 at Sears Nursing Home where she had bed a resident for 8 years suffering from Alzheimer Disease. Born in 1915 in Brantley County, her parents were Wiley and Mollie Martin. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Clyde and her two sisters Gladys and Beatrice.
Following her marriage to Joseph Williams, Sr., and the birth of her three children, the family moved to Brunswick where Joe and Jewell both worked in the shipyard during World War II. She is most remembered as secretary for Drs. Mercer and Inman, where she worked for many years.
Following the death of her husband Joe, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she eventually married Norman Dunning. After Norm's death, she returned to Brunswick for the remainder of her life. She was active in the First Baptist Church, and did volunteer service at Manna House. She made St Marks Towers home until 2003 when her bout with Alzheimer Disease forced her to move into nursing homes.
Survivors include her daughter, Janis Whitener and her husband Al of Brunswick: her two sons, Ray Williams and his wife Peggy of Cartersville, GA; and Bob Williams and his wife Sheila of Los Angeles, CA. Miss Jewell has seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 1PM on Saturday, March 10, 2012, followed by a funeral service 2PM in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery, with Jay Overstreet, Gene Williams, Joe Williams, Jay Simone, Al Crum, and Jimmy Crum serving as pallbearers. Friends are welcome to call anytime at the home of her daughter Janis in Deerwood Estates
In remembrance of their mother, Jewell's children ask that you say a prayer for those less fortunate and make a small donation to Manna House of Brunswick.
