Jim Owens

Jim Owens, age 61, of St. Simons Island, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville. Jim was a native of St. Simons Island. He graduated from Glynn Academy in 1971 where he was the high school quarterback. After graduation, he entered the US Army and served as a Medic in Germany. He later attended Barber school and began his life long career. He enjoyed socializing, spending time with his family and cooking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Versie Lee Owens, Jr. and Marie Cofer Owens Marshall.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Owens of St. Simons Island; two sons, Caine Owens (Brianne) of New Jersey and Jason Owens of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Jaxon Lee Owens, Clayton Owens, Seth Tindall and Kaeleigh Tindall; a sister, Sandy Owens Day (Bill); four brothers, Mike Owens, Wendy Owens, Bobby Owens and Randy Owens; three nieces, two nephews, and five great nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Family Life Assembly of God with Pastor Chris Foster and Billy Cofer officiating.
