Mike was born in Brunswick on June 29, 1950, to the late Jasper Brooks Wells and Eula Lenora Wells. He was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a 1968 graduate of Glynn Academy and subsequently graduated from South Georgia Technical College in Americus. Upon graduation, Mike began working at what was then known as Brunswick Pulp and Paper and went through ownership changes including Scott-Mead, Koch Cellulose, and Georgia-Pacific. Mike held various roles at the mill but ultimately became an electrician and made friends with many co-workers in the electric shop and throughout the mill.
Mike’s favorite hobbies were old cars and trucks, especially restoring them and driving them around town. He especially enjoyed his 1955 Chevy Bel-Air and 1963 Chevy truck. Mike also enjoyed fishing, working in his yard cutting grass, fellowship with his church members, and singing in the Church choir.
Survivors who will cherish their memories include his loving son, Christopher Blake Wells of Waverly; sister, Robbie Wells Strickland and her husband, Phil of Valdosta; his special friend Marsha Seppala of Brunswick, and his beloved Boston Terrier named Maggie. Mike is also survived by his nephew, Joel Strickland and his wife Hope of Loganville, Georgia and his niece, Laurie Ann Wright of Valdosta. Additional survivors are great nieces and nephews, Cale Strickland, Addy Strickland, Cash Strickland, Megan Brook Tyre and her husband Jeffrey, and Alden Jean Eddy. Great-great nieces and nephews are Adaleigh Grace Tyre and Colson Wells Tyre.
