

He was born in Brantley County, Georgia on April 13, 1912. At the time of his death he was residing at 2317 Heron Street in Brunswick, GA. He was the son of James Mason and Bessie Mae Wright Harrison. He was one of six children. He was raised in Brantley County but moved to Brunswick later and worked at Hercules until his retirement in 1978. He was married to the late Charlotte Harrison for 72 years and has one daughter, Marie Harrison Stubbs (John), a grandson, John Allen Stubbs, a granddaughter, Marie Myrick Stubbs and a great granddaughter, Adrienne Stubbs. He has several nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his sister and brothers. He was a very independent man, although with many friends. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and playing golf. He was a member of Saint Mark’s Church where he served on the vestry and ushered for many years. John Edwin Harrison was a man that was committed to God, his wife, family and friends. He was loyal and trusted to all who knew him. His many stories about the “old days” were enjoyed and will be missed.
Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home at 9:30am, Saturday August 13. 2011. Interment will follow the service at Palmetto cemetery. Teddy Harrison, Johnny Harrison, Terry Harrison, Donnie Harrison, Clay Harrison and Joe Dubberly will be serving pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be his niece Peggy Moore, Woody and Carl Baumgardner, David Capps, Sally Jones, Dr. Mitchell Jones, Kit Mann, and Rob Hicks,and Daves Steed.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday, August 12, 2011 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles at 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
