John “Sonny” Lee Livingston, Jr., 80, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, after an extended illness. Sonny was born on July 12, 1941, to Jack Livingston and Edna Drury Livingston. Sonny was a lifelong resident of Glynn County and grew up in the Brookman Community where he lived on the family property his entire life. He was a 1959 graduate of Glynn Academy. He had a career at Hercules where he retired as a millwright after 30 years of service.
Farming was a huge part of Sonny’s life which included raising cattle over the years. His gardening skills produced some of the best Silver Queen corn which he loved to share with family and friends. Sonny could often be found on his tractor where he felt peace and a connection with his Lord. He acquired his strong work ethic from his dad which allowed him to keep up the family property of which he was very proud. In his younger years, Sonny enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid motorcycle rider, and he enjoyed pitching for his church’s softball team. However, bowling became his favorite hobby for the past 15 years where he met many new friends. Sonny served on various church committees and was a Farm Bureau board member. Sonny enjoyed traveling with his wife and close friends to various locations within the states and different countries. His favorite trips were a river boat cruise down the Mississippi River and a cruise through the Panama Canal. His dry sense of humor was a unique part of his personality enjoyed by his numerous friends. One of his favorite pastimes was eating in “Paula’s Kitchen,” especially when it included coconut cake.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 30 years, Paula King Livingston; his daughters – Cindy Cunningham (Matt Dixon), Jackie Hollaway (David, a very special “son”), Janice Livingston, Kelly Howe (Danny) and Kristi Reynolds (Kelly); sister, Lee Isla Crosby; brothers – Bruce Kahler (Barbara) and Burt Kahler; brother-in- law and sister-in-law, Rev.
