Johnny was one of five children born to Otis Wilburn Kennedy and Carolyn Virginia Durrence. The family moved to Glynn County in 1966 when his father retired from the military. After high school, Johnny worked in the food service industry and managed several local restaurants including Ryan’s Steakhouse. He enjoyed fishing and was a sports fanatic! Johnny loved watching the Atlanta Braves and was especially happy when they won the World Series last year. He also enjoyed cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and was proud of their National Championship win.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jimmy.
Johnny is survived by two sisters, Dale Whelchel (Bob) of Sugar Hill, GA and Debbie Guisinger (Charles) of Canton, GA and a brother, Mike Kennedy (Debbie) of Brunswick. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor Johnny’s life will be held Friday morning at 11:00 am at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
