Mr. Guthrie was born November 15, 1939 in Bradfordsville, Kentucky the son of the late Joseph C. Guthrie and the late Edna Marie Guthrie. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Guthrie had been a resident of Jacksonville, Florida since 1980. He was a man of faith and the minister at Golden Isles Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Guthrie was also preceded in death by two brothers; Kenneth Guthrie and Gene Guthrie. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of fifty-four years, Elenora Guthrie of Jacksonville, FL; five children, Brad and Cathy Guthrie of Jacksonville, FL, Melissa Halliday of Daytona Beach, FL, Trish and Tom Moore of Jacksonville, FL, David Guthrie of Jacksonville, FL and Amanda Guthrie of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Sue Smothers of Lebanon, KY and Linda and Frank Alvey of Knoxville, TN; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends during the hours 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Golden Isles Christian Church with Minister Grant Wheeler officiating.
Mr. Guthrie loved to spend time with his family and friends. He also loved gospel music and enjoyed reading the Bible and traveling with his wife. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
