

Kenneth Donald Tanner, 77, of Brunswick, GA, passed away peacefully Friday, the 18th of August 2017 at his residence. He was born in Blue Ridge, GA, the 30th of September 1939, son of the late Claude Griffin Tanner and the late Neva Ruth Tanner.
Mr. Tanner served our country proudly in the United States Air Force, retiring after twenty years. After his military honorable discharge, he completed a one year Certificate Program in Welding, from Brunswick Junior College and obtained the Pittsburg Certification in Pipe Welding. He was a boilermaker at Hercules Company and retired after 22 years.
Mr. Tanner was a member of Gylndale Baptist Church. He also was a member of the United American Masonic Lodge # 657 and Order of Eastern Star, Neptune Chapter #153. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and North America. His interests included camping, fishing, hunting, playing with his dogs, Bobo and Pepper Jack, and spending time with his family. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to Mr. Tanner’s parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Dartha Jean Rhymes. Survivors include Mr. Tanner’s loving wife of 57 years, Anna Schmitt Tanner of Brunswick, GA; two daughters, Patricia Sylvia Becerra of Rowlett, TX and Helen Ruth Tanner of Lexington Park, MD; one Granddaughter, Michelle Tanner Becerra of Rowlett, TX.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until eight o'clock in the evening on Monday, the 21st of August 2017, in the Brunswick Room, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave, in Brunswick. A funeral service with masonic rites will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 22nd of August 2017, at Glyndale Baptist Church, 132 Butler Dr., in Brunswick, where Reverend Ken Creekmore is to officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Brown, Larry Johns, Bob Causey, Dustion Corbitt, J. L. Oglesby, and Burt Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fishers of Men Sunday School class.
Interment with military honors will be held at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Veterans Cemetery Rd., Canton, Georgia, 12:30p.m., Thursday, the 24th of August 2017.
The family has requested that in lieu of customary remembrances, memorials may be made in Mr. Tanner’s name to Heartland Hospice or Glyndale Baptist Church’s Building Fund, Way To Go (WTG).
