

Larry was a life-long resident of Brunswick, Georgia. He was a graduate of Glynn Academy, class of 1969. After high school, he joined the National Guard and went to work as a builder at Driggers Construction and Realty, later becoming a partner in the business. Larry had a love for horses. He was a partner in A & M Performance Horses and enjoyed traveling to watch his horses compete. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and looked forward to his bi-annual hunting trips with his friends. Larry loved woodworking and could build just about anything.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie David Ammons and Verdie Lee Strickland Ammons, his wife, Carole Jean Callahan Ammons, and three siblings, Hilda, Jimmy and Margie.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Melissa Dianne Hickerson and her husband, Zack Carter Hickerson of Athens, TN; a son, Bradley Ryan Ammons and his wife, Sondra Lynn Matter of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Joshua Kyle Hickerson (Bobbie Lynn Gunnels) and Logan Dean Hickerson, all of Billings, MT, Kyleigh Faith Hickerson of Athens, TN, Rilynn Jean Ammons, James Callahan Ammons and Juniper Claire Ammons, all of Jacksonville, FL; three great-grandchildren, Noah James Minton and Gwenivere Jean Hickerson of Billing, MT and Isabella Rose Hickerson of Richmond Hill, GA; Four siblings, Irma Driggers, Ernest Ammons, Hazel Anderson, and Carolyn Bell, all of Brunswick.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:00 pm at Chapel Park Cemetery, 1180 Cate Road, Brunswick, GA with Reverend Jim Crandall officiating.
