
Lillian Virginia Browning, 99, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015. She was born in Hazlehurst, GA August 1, 1915 to the late Lawrence Monroe Browning and Nancy Helen Curry Browning. She moved to Brunswick at age 22 where she attended Perry Business School. Upon graduation she worked nine years as a secretary for the Georgia Theater Company, which included the theaters Ritz, Bijou, Roxy and Casino. She later worked as a secretary for attorney Vance Mitchell for fifteen years.
For 36 years she lived above the Ritz Theater in the Ritz Apartments across the street from the Rainbow Pharmacy and Grill, which was started, owned and operated by her brother, Thomas Browning. From there she walked to work, shops and restaurants in her beloved city of Brunswick.
Lillian enjoyed traveling especially to New York City where she enjoyed shopping, dining and attending plays. She was the family historian and her knowledge of the family tree will greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Lucile Andrews, Clifford Teasley, and brothers Thomas Browning, Lawrence Browning and Leon Browning.
She is survived by her nieces Billy Browning Powell (Bob), Donna Eventoff (Paul), Sara Miller and nephews Edward Narozniak, Jr. (Carol Ann) and Howard Browning (Rose) and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Edo Miller funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at the Hazlehurst City Cemetery in Hazlehurst, GA, 55 North Williams Street at 11 am on Thursday.
