

Lowell Franklin “Sam” Floyd, 89, of Brunswick, Glynn County, Georgia, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 16, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on September 28, 1935, to the late Roy Floyd and Katie Jewell Floyd in Douglas, Coffee County, Georgia.
Sam graduated from Satilla High School in Douglas, Coffee County, Georgia in 1955. He went right to work after high school for the Coca Cola Company, Coffee County Mill Works and Matthews Furniture Company in Douglas, Georgia. In 1962, he moved to Brunswick, Georgia and went to work for Babcock and Wilcox as a boilermaker, where he remained for 20 years. In 1984, he went to work for FLETC as a desk clerk for 20 years.
He met the love of his life and his best friend, Patricia Ann Johnson Floyd. They were married on June 18, 1955, in Douglas, Coffee County, Georgia. They were happily devoted to each other for 69 years.
Sam was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family. He was a passionate gardener who enjoyed caring for his plants and sharing vegetables from his garden with everyone. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys and grandsons. He was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Floyd and Katie Jewell Floyd; brothers; Austin Floyd and Onis Floyd; sisters; Lois Baker; Kathleen Griffis; Irma Hatfield; Naomi Paine; Alice Vickers; Edna Vickers; son: Daniel Lamar “Danny” Floyd; daughter-in-law; Julie Floyd; grandson: Austin Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Johnson Floyd; two sons, Chet Floyd and Doug Floyd (Denise); two daughters, Debbie Jones (David); and Rebecca Dixon; daughter-in-law, Stacy Floyd; ten grandchildren, Patrick Floyd (Crystal); Lowell Floyd (Nazara); Eric Floyd (Erin); Brandon Jones; Justin Jones (Sarah); Dusty Floyd; Kaylee Floyd (Terry); Hunter Dixon; Samantha Dixon; and Addison Dixon; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for Lowell will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Edo Miler and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Avenue, Brunswick, Georgia 31520. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3631 Community Road, Brunswick, Georgia 31520.
