

Ludwig “Ludie” Lonnie Owens, 81, of Brunswick, died Monday, August 27, 2012 at SGHS in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Sterling Church of God with Pastors Larry Daughtry, Monroe Gill, Earl Lamey, and beloved friend Virlan Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery with Ronnie Owens, Darrell Owens, F.D. “Buddy” Mallard, Mark Rowell, Juno Owens and Tim Burkhead serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Men’s Fellowship of Sterling Church of God.
Born April 7, 1931 in McIntosh County Georgia, to the late Edward R. and Sally A. Owens, he was a veteran of the US Army and was retired from FLETC as a building coordinator and lead maintenance mechanic. Mr. Owens had lived most of his life in Glynn County and was a member of Sterling Church of God. He enjoyed horses and had built numerous horse drawn wagons, was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude Owens, Leo Owens, and Coleman Owens, and by two sisters, Carolyn Stokes and Marie Reynolds.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Virginia Owens of Brunswick, a son, David L. Owens and wife Amy, of Brunswick, two daughters, Donna L. Owens of Brunswick and Ashley A. Rowell and husband Phillip of Waynesville, a grandson, Joshua Rowell, who was the apple of his eye, two sisters, Lois Franklin of Brunswick and Louise Sapp of Hinesville, a brother, Wayne Owens of Hendersonville, TN, and his faithful canine companion, Sissy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 29, 2012 from 6PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Those desiring may make memorials to Sterling Church of God in memory of Mr. Owens. www.edomillerandsons.com
