

Mada McDonald Heins, age 91, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. She was a native of Brunswick and had lived here all of her life. She graduated from Glynn Academy with the class of 1939 and from Georgia State College for Women in 1943. She taught school at McIntosh County Academy in Darien until her retirement.
Mrs. Heins was very active in the First Presbyterian Church where she taught the Kindergarten Sunday School Class for 40 years. She volunteered in the local hospital emergency room for 50 years. She traveled extensively and enjoyed playing Bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Heins. Survivors include her twin son and daughter, Don Heins (Donna) of Brunswick, and Dale Heins Pendarvis (Dan) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two grandsons, Craig Pendarvis (Erin) of Dallas, Texas, and Wesley Pendarvis of Washington, D.C.; a brother, William A. McDonald of Jesup, and seven nephews and one niece.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. David McDonald, nephew, and Reverend Dawn Mayes officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be her nephews; Jonathan, Steven, Mike, Bill, Jr., Mark and Wen McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. John Law, Rev. Danny Grace, Rev. Jim Crandall, Dr. William Laws, Dr. Antonio Moran, Linda Logue, Minnie Robinson, Bill and Susan Portman, Spencer and Bonnie Tait, Julian Flexer, Dick Krauss, Frank Vande Linde, Al Coty, Homer Wilson, and all hospital volunteers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
