

Madge was born in Macon on August 16, 1928 the daughter of the late Marie Moll Clifton and Robert Lee Clifton, past secretary-treasurer and managing editor of The Macon News newspaper. She was married to the late J.P. “Duke” DeMay, well known pianist and writer.
Madge was a graduate of A.L. Miller High School. She attended Wesleyan Conservatory and Mercer University where she pledged to Chi Omega sorority. She was past president and member of the board of the Macon Little Theater for many years and past secretary-treasurer of the Georgia Tennessee Walking Horse Association. Madge was a retired Computer Systems Analyst at Robins AFB with 31 years of service. After retirement in 1982 she moved to St. Simons Island where she was a current member of the St. Simons Presbyterian Church, Ft. Frederica Chapter of the DAR, Coastal Georgia Historical Society, Golden Isles Arts and Humanities Association, Glynn Art Association, South Coastal Georgia Humane Society, Coastal Symphony of Georgia, Golden Isles Live, Brunswick Players, past president of the St. Simons Rotary Auxiliary and a patron of the Island Players.
She is survived by her daughter Lee Vanette Kirkland McKinney and son-in-law Michael McKinney; grand-daughter Katherine Fillyaw McKinney all of St. Simons Island; a number of cousins; and good friend and caregiver, Helen Hartenstein.
A graveside, inurnment service at Rose Hill Cemetery, Macon, Ga. will be announced at a later date by Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry St. Macon, Ga.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525 or the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia, 4627 US-17 Brunswick, GA 31525 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
