

Margaret “ Ethel” Brewer Harvey, 95, passed away on Thursday, May 12 at SE Georgia Senior Care Facility. Mrs. Harvey had been a resident of Brunswick, Ga since 1940. She was born in Lumber City, Georgia on August 21, 1920 to the late Daniel Oscar Brewer and the late Margaret Catherine Powell.
In addition to Mrs. Harvey’s parents she is preceded in death her Husband, William T. (Bill) Harvey, Sr.; Son, Michael Harvey; and two Grandsons, Daniel W. Harvey and James L. (Jimmy) Johns III and seven siblings.
She was a founding member of Azalea Garden Club and won many blue ribbons. She was a lover of anything green and even stopped at houses to ask for a cutting when she spied a pretty flower. She was an avid reader and puzzle expert (used pen instead of a pencil.) She was a faithful member of Norwich Baptist, since age 21, worked in the Nursery through several generations and won pins for all six of her children for perfect attendance for five years in a row. She was a faithful tither and each child received a nickel each Sunday for the offering plate. When all her children left home, she took driving lessons at the college and began driving. She inherited her family’s wit and good sense of humor.
Ethel is survived by her children, Daughter, Phyllis Harvey Johns (J.L.); And Four Sons: William T. Harvey, Jr. “Tommy” (Sara); Daniel O. Harvey “Danny”; Lanny B. Harvey; and Randal N. Harvey. Grandchildren: Julie Johns Grimes (Jody), Sara Lyn Harvey Hubbard (Charlie), Stacey Harvey, and Dianne Harvey (Parker Brooks). Great Grandchildren: Jack Hubbard, Remi Harvey-Brooks and Heather and Kyle Grimes.
The family would like to extend a Special Thanks to Live Oak section at the Senior Care Center for their kindness and patience during her three months there. The family would like to also thank her sweet roommate Zela Palmer
Family will receive friends Sunday May 15, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, with Reverend Art Cyphers officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery.
