Margaret Elizabeth Mitchell

Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Alto, Georgia and had been a resident of Jekyll Island since 1971. She was a member of the Paupers Club of Jekyll, Jekyll Island Garden Club and the Jekyll Island Arts Association. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army Nurse Corp during World War II.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Mitchell., and her parents, B.K. and Susan Wheeler.

Survivors are a daughter, Jacqueline Harris (Al) of Boone, N.C., two sons, Charles Philip Mitchell (Christy) of Jekyll Island, and Henry Pope Mitchell (Katherine) of Augusta, Ga., two brothers, Don Wheeler and Gene Wheeler both of Florida, grandchildren, Heather Yates, Melanie Higgins, Brandon Mitchell, Caroline Paradise, Margaret Mitchell, William Mitchell, and Christa Mitchell, great grandchildren, Justin Yates, Ryan Yates, Philip Paradise and Lincoln Paradise and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 O’Clock Saturday 12/11/10 in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. James Kenney officiating.

The family request contributions to the Toys for Tots, American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.

The family will have a reception from 4 to 6 Pm Saturday 12/11/10 at Mrs. Mitchell Home on Jekyll Island.
