
Martha Ellen Hall Still left us on Jan. 2, 2026 at Heritage Oaks on St. Simons Island, Ga. She had resided there for 11 years. She was born on May 17, 1934 to J.M. and Esther Hill Hall in Quitman, Ga. She was a graduate of Brooks County High school in Quitman, Ga. She married Frank William Still, Sr., who was from Barnwell, SC in August 1953. During their early years of marriage they lived in Lake City, Fl then moved to Thomasville, Ga until 1968 at which time they moved to St. Simons Island. After 50 years with Belk her husband retired.
He then decided to return to Belk, moving to Charleston, SC and managed the four Belk stores for another 5 years before retiring a second time and moved back to St. Simons Island where they lived until their deaths.
In the 1970’s she was known as the Welcome Lady for the Glynn County Chamber of Commerce and was very active in the St. Simons Island Cotillion and was a member of St. Simons First Baptist Church and was a member of the Joy Sunday School class. She will be remembered for her dedication to her faith, her family and her friends. She enjoyed baking especially red velvet cake and brownies.
She was preceded in death by her husband and both her parents, brothers J.B. Hall and Carl Hall. She is survived by her son Frank W. Still, Jr. (Carolyn) of Blackshear, Ga. Daughter Elizabeth S Jordan (Donnie) of St. Simons Island, granddaughters Amanda Still Rowe (Fred) of Brunswick and Christi Pitts of Blackshear. Grandson William Aylward Jordan (Meredith) of Niceville, Fl and Justin Jordan (Melissa) of Winter Park, Fl. Great Grandsons Tab Blount (Olivia) of Blackshear, Ga and Justin Jordan Jr. of Winter Park, Fl. Great granddaughter Brittney Pitts of Alpharetta, GA. and Sara Grace Aylward Jordan due January 2026. Great Great Granddaughters AliRose and Ariah Gragg of Blackshear. Brother Larry Wayne Hall of Quitman, GA along with several nieces and nephews which were very dear to her heart.
The family would like to recognize and thank Heritage Oaks of St. Simons Island, Hospice of the Golden Isles and Vivian Peterson for the care of our mother.
Visitation will be at St. Simons Island First Baptist Church at 12:00 noon with the service to follow at 1:00 PM at the church with Rev. Robert Mickey James, Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tim Tyre, Nick Doster, Al Brown, Mark Owens, Larry White, Duane McFarland and Bruce Flexer. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class of St. Simons First Baptist. Private burial at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens.
