Mirriam Juanita McIntosh Owens

Mirriam McIntosh Owens, 90, of Shellman Bluff, died Sunday, October 12, 2014 at SGHS in Brunswick. Funeral services will be held Wednesday , October 15, 2014 at 2PM in Shellman Bluff Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Briley, Rev. Andy Haman, and Dr. Jody Owens officiating. Interment will follow in McIntosh Family Cemetery with Thad Owens, Timothy Howard, Stephen Dearing , Kevin Green, Jason Howard, Matthew Green, and D.L. McIntosh serving as pallbearers. Born October 20, 1923 in Liberty County, Georgia, to the late David Lachlan and Gertrude B. McIntosh, she was a homemaker and also assisted her daughter at Speeds Kitchen in Shellman Bluff from 1976 - 90. Mrs. Owens was a member of Shellman Bluff Baptist Church and also taught Sunday School Class and was the church pianist for many years. She enjoyed crochet, fishing, camping, travel and blue grass music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Thomas Lamar Owens, Sr., four sisters, Ruthlyn Townsend, Pauline Roney, Annie Laura Hutchinson, and Vadna McIntosh, and two brothers, Joseph McIntosh and Gery McIntosh. Survivors include a son Thomas Lamar Owens, Jr. and wife Laura of Jesup, GA; a daughter Linda Howard of Shellman Bluff, GA; five grandchildren Rita Howard Dearing (Stephen) of Savannah, GA, Jennifer Owens Green (Kevin) of Charlotte, NC. , Dr. Jody Lamar Owens (Stephanie) of Knoxville, TN, Thad Owens ( Andrea) of Lakeland, FL, and Timothy Howard (Donna) of Shellman Bluff, GA; nine great- grandchildren Marysa, Stephanie, Grace, Jason, and Brady Howard all of Shellman Bluff, GA, Matthew Green of Charlotte, NC, Sydney and Mason Owens of Lakeland, FL, and Abigail Owens of Knoxville, TN, and a brother, D.L. McIntosh and wife Mary Ann of Shellman Bluff. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1PM until the funeral hour at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church.
