

Nellie was born January 25, 1917 in Wayne County to the late Henry and Rachel Johnson. Her family moved to Brunswick when she was only a child. This is where she met and later married the love of her life, Lymon Crews. She became a loving wife to her late husband and they were blessed to have five children. She was also a homemaker and a member of New Life Sanctuary Church.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rachel Johnson; her late husband, Lymon Crews; a daughter, Laverne Crews; also seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Geneva Bearden and Loretta Daniels; two sons. Joseph “Eddie” Crews (Brenda) and Vernon Crews all of Brunswick, GA; one sister, Louis Morgan of Waynesville, GA. Nellie was blessed to see five generations in her life time. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Nellie loved to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling with one of her favorite destinations being the Great Smokey Mountains. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
The family will receive friends during the hour of 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The family cordially invites you to attend the funeral service at 11:00 AM on Monday, August, 14, 2017 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Dana Swain officiating the service. The interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Rick Daniels, Ron Daniels, Mike Bearden, Mark Bearden, Richard Crews, and Vernon James Crews.
