

Noah David Sylvester, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday evening, the 28th of May 2017 at his residence at the age 86. A native of Pierce County, Georgia, Mr. Sylvester had been a resident of Glynn County since 1964. Borne on the 16th of February 1931, he was the son of the late William Martin Sylvester and the late Nancy Irma Cason Sylvester. He was employed by Marathon Construction as a Building Superintendent where he later retired. Mr. Sylvester was an active member of College Place United Methodist Church. He was also a 25 year member of the Ocean Lodge #214 F&AM and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Sylvester enjoyed working in the yard with his flowers and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two grandchildren Katie Wells and Jessica Hollaway; and his four sisters Doris Thorne, Billie Jo Poppell, Janice Courson, and Delores Rooks.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Deanna Sylvester of Brunswick, Georgia; Three daughters Jane S, Simpson and husband Johnny, Gail W. Sylvester, and Mindy Hollaway all of Brunswick, Georgia; One son Larry D. Sylvester and wife Paula of Brunswick, Georgia; One sister Veronica Rooks and her husband Lester; Eight grandchildren; Fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is to be conducted on Thursday, the 1st of June 2017, at eleven o’clock in the morning with a visitation one hour prior to service from 10 o’clock to 11 o’clock in the morning at College Place United Methodist Church, 3890 Altama Ave. in Brunswick, where Reverend Rob Grotheer will officiate. A reception will follow the service in the church social hall. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM with a funeral cortege to Union Cemetery in Wayne County, Georgia.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Richard Moon, Earl Buckner, Jimmy Franklin, John Carter, Tom Bullock, and Ralph Bennett.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the College Place United Methodist Church Co-Ed Sunday School Class.
