

Pamela Thomas Roseman of St. Simon's Island passed away at the Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Pam was born on February 1, 1946, in Florida to the daughter of the late Eva Banes and Elwyn Thomas. Pam grew up in Tallahassee where her father presided as a Florida Supreme Court Justice. Pam attended Florida State University for her undergraduate degree then moved to Atlanta where she earned her M.A. and PhD in History from Georgia State University.
Pam taught history in the University System of Georgia for over 25 years and received many awards for her excellence in teaching. She and two of her former colleagues authored a textbook which was used in public education and colleges. She retired in 2014 and relocated from Atlanta to St. Simons Island, Georgia, where she became an active member of the community.
Pam is survived by her husband, Gary H. Roseman, Sr. of St. Simons Island, daughter Amanda Banes Colbenson of Brooklyn, NY, niece Trish Rouse of Memphis, TN, nephew Terry Meginnis of Brooklyn, NY; great nieces and nephew Kelly Friend and Darby Shaw of Tallahassee, FL, Emma Mann-Meginniss of Oakland, CA, Marisa Rouse and Sam Rouse of Memphis, TN; stepdaughter and stepson Ashley Parish of SSI and Gary Roseman, Jr., of Washington, D.C. She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Thomas Meginniss and niece Lyndi Green.
Pam was a generous, loving, and supportive wife, mother, and aunt. She left an indelible impact on all those she knew, including students, colleagues, animals and scores of friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Lung Association or your local animal rescue center.
