He was born February 27, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Westminster High School. He was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia where he was a member of the Sigma Delta Epsilon Fraternity which later became the Eta Theta Chapter of Sigma Chi National Fraternity.
Paul was employed for a number of years with the Heely-Brown Company of Atlanta, a premier roofing supply company. In 1997 he moved to St. Simons Island where he became employed with the Sea Island Corporation, working in the main Pro Shop/Reservations Office and later in the Golf Performance Center before retiring in 2013.
Paul loved St. Simons Island, calling it “My Island” and rarely ever leaving it. He also had a deep gratitude and appreciation of the “Fellowship” in which he was an active and integral part. He also had a deep appreciation for those still suffering and willing to, and did, go to any lengths to help. He spend endless hours doing service work and often helped behind the scenes. He was a regular presence to greet all who entered at the door with a gentle “Good Evening” in his slow southern way and a smile that said “Welcome”. Paul displayed his humility and love of the Fellows and never hesitated to reach out his hand and heart to help and assist others, and most of the time, without others even being aware of it. He was an excellent representative of God’s love and miracles and will be sorely missed by all.
Survivors are his sisters, Joann Brown Medlock of Monroe, Georgia and Toinette Brown Reed (Charlie) of St. Simons Island, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 04, 2018, at John Wesley United Methodist Church on St. Simons Island.
In Lieu of flowers, a donation in Paul’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
