Philip Alan Rogers

Philip Alan Rogers, 54, a resident of Brunswick, born September 28, 1959 to Herbert A. and Myrtice Rogers in Brunswick, Ga. and departed this life on December 4, 2013 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C.

Philip became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church at a young age and was a member until his death. He was a graduate of Brunswick High School and North Georgia Vocational Technical College in Clarksville, Ga. Philip was assistant manager in Brunswick with Winn-Dixie Stores before becoming an Electrician for the past 14 years with I.E.B.W, Local #508.

Phillip was an avid sports fan and loved all kinds of Sports. But he was a George Bulldog fanatic.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtice Rogers and two brothers, Herbert A. Rogers , Jr and Kenneth Timothy Rogers.

Survivors are a son, Kyle Rogers of St. Simons, his father and step-mother, Herbert A. and Mildred Rogers of Brunswick, a sister, India Rogers of Greenville, S.C., a step- sister, Glenda Harris (Hugh) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL., a step-brother, Al Shiver of Brunswick and several nieces and nephews, a a special friend, Karen Lacount of Brunswick.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday 12/7/13 in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Chancy, Rev. Ron Stinson and Dr. Greg Love officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be: Al Shiver, Dustin Shiver, Brian Melone, David Naves, Doyle Mathis and Roy Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Peter Vivenzio, Lee Bruce, Lorenzia Pitts, Tony Rocha, Billy and Sara Brown, Dr. Larry and Colleen Boyette, Tim and Gloria Rozier, Andy and Linda Hill, Farris Champion, Rheba Mathis, Sadie Womble, Jim and Pat Hodges and Golden Isles Baptist Church, Adult Sunday School Class, Lavon Crosby, Ralph Smith and Bob Howell.

The family will receive friend in the Funeral Home from 10 to 11 AM Saturday and request in lieu of flowers, contributions to the Lottie Moon Mission offering, C/O Golden Isles Baptist Church, 100 Whitefield Ave.,, St. Simons Island, Ga., 31522.
