Robert Lumb Knowles Sr.

Robert Lumb Knowles, Sr., 64, of Brunswick, GA. passed away Wednesday June 2, 2010 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles.

Mr. Knowles’s was a native of Telfair County, born August 18, 1945 to the late William “Bill” Knowles and Mollie Lee Horton Knowles, and had been a resident of Glynn County for 55 years. Mr. Knowles attended Glynn Academy High School. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local Union # 597 as an iron worker by trade which he retired from. The Iron Workers Local Union # 597 was contracted with Georgia Pacific where Mr. Knowles work for many years. He was also of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Knowles enjoyed fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather. He will be missed greatly by his all who knew him.

Mr. Knowles is preceded in death by his father William “Bill” Knowles and his previous wife Bonnie Paulette Manning Knowles.

Survivors include Mr. Knowles four children, Stacey Jarvis and husband Mike, of Sugar Valley, GA., Tracey Gonzalez and husband Sidney, Robert Knowles, Jr. and wife Amelia, and Christopher Knowles, Sr. all of Brunswick, GA., his mother Mollie Knowles of Brunswick, GA., three sisters Carolyn Purvis and husband Buddy of Lawrenceville, GA., Wanda Herrington and husband Rusty of Statesboro, GA., and Dale Knowles Herrington of Ray City, GA. three brothers Henry Knowles, David Knowles and wife Terri, and Joey Knowles and wife Celeste all of Brunswick, GA., six grandchildren, Brian Gonzalez , Landy Ray, Brooke Gonzalez, Chelsea Lancaster, Christopher Knowles Jr., and Sierra Knowles, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. Saturday June 5, 2010 at the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Lamb and Rev. Carl Knowles officiating . Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Knowles, Joshua Knowles, David Knowles, Jr., Tim Knowles, Jimmy Herrington, Jamie Knowles, and Michael Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers will be the Iron Workers Local Union # 597, of Jacksonville, FL.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm. until 8 pm. Friday June 4, 2010 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA.
