

Russell Julius Brothers, 87, of St Simons Island, died Thursday, February 23 at Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Campus. Mr. Brothers memorialization was by cremation and there are no services scheduled at this time.
A native of upstate New York, he served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific theatre during WWII. He has been a resident of Glynn County since 1983 living on Jekyll Island and moved to St. Simons Island in 1989. He was employed by Equifax in Atlanta, GA for some 35 years, retiring and moving here from Dallas, TX where he was regional VP. He was a member of Lodge #954 F&AM, Coastal GA Historical Society, and served as both Deacon and Elder in both the Jekyll Island and St. Simons Presbyterian Churches. He also participated in a number of volunteer and charitable activities.
In addition to his parents, He is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Brothers.
He is survived by a son, Gary W. Brothers (Becky) of Lexington, KY; a Granddaughter: Gloria of Atlanta, GA; a Grandson: David, an officer in the Marine Corps; his Wife: Denise of Prattville, AL; two Great Grandchildren: Isabella Marie Brothers and Owen Wallace Brothers of Prattville, AL; and his beloved friend: Molly Cook of St. Simons Island.
