

Russell was a native of Brunswick, born October 16, 1955 to Elsie Herring Mobley and Guite Henry Mobley. He was a 1973 graduate of Glynn Academy and a 1980 graduate from the apprenticeship program of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was employed with Cogburn Brothers Electric as an industrial electrician and had served as Electrical Superintendent/Foreman on several projects for Cogburn over the past eight years. He began his career as an electrician with McInnis Electric during his apprenticeship. Throughout the years, as a 30 year member of I.B.E.W. Local 508, he worked in states all over the country.
Russell was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and never met a stranger. He had a tremendous love of the family farm and was completely in his element on a tractor plowing the earth and planting crops. Russell married his high school friend, Linda, on December 26, 2007 and they enjoyed cooking and spending time with their families and friends.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Linda Rowell Mobley of Brunswick; his parents, Elsie Herring Mobley and Guite Henry Mobley, both of Brunswick; a stepmother Henrietta G. Mobley of Brunswick; a son, Chad G. Mobley (Jeannie) of Brunswick; a daughter, Erica Nicole Mobley of Brunswick; a granddaughter, Lillian Grace Mobley of Brunswick; a brother, David B. Mobley (Jackie) of Brunswick; two sisters, Sherrie Mobley Polk and Jan Mobley Nichols, both of Brunswick; two stepsisters , Angela M. Rhodes (Robert) of Nicholls, Ga. and Heather M. Ussery (George) of Brunswick; a nephew and several nieces.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Harrington and Rev. George Moxley officiating. Interment will follow at Brunswick Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Dalton Polk, Mitch Rogers, John Snyder, Danny Rooks, Jeff Lewis, Gary “Gut” May and Mike Harper. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Griner, Larry Whitted, Gary Hixenbaugh, Cogburn Brothers Electric and their employees and the members of I.B.E.W. Local 508.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
