Russell Dewight Underwood

Russell D. Underwood, 61, of Brunswick, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at SGHS Brunswick Campus. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Sterling Church of God with, Rev. David Inman, Rev. Jimmy Walden, Rev. Ronnie Clark and Rev. Earl Lamey officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Wayne Underwood, Ricky Underwood, Rudy Underwood, Thomas Underwood, Clyde Underwood and Joey Thomas serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Lane, Roger and Donna Cooper, Lynn Smith, Dr. Antonio Moran and Staff and members of Sterling Church of God.

Born November 23, 1948 in Glynn County to the late Loy and Lula Mae Smith Underwood, he was the owner and operator of Underwood Septic Services. Mr. Underwood was a graduate of Glynn Academy, a veteran of the US Navy serving in Vietnam and a member of Sterling Church of God where he attended The Adult Sunday School Class. He enjoyed singing and playing gospel music and had recorded an album. Mr. Underwood was also an avid fisherman and was a lifelong resident of Glynn County. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Joe Underwood, two brothers, Dub Underwood and Robert Underwood and a sister, Laverne Smith.

Survivors include a son, Tracy Underwood and wife Jody, a daughter, Rikki Underwood all of Brunswick, six grandchildren, Ansleigh Wheeler, Carleigh May, Jaicy Morton, Aleah Underwood, Kelani Underwood and Alana Underwood, five brothers, Wayne Underwood and wife Rose, Ricky Underwood and wife Carolyn, Rudy Underwood, Thomas Underwood and wife Lori and Clyde Underwood and wife Donna all of Brunswick, six sisters, Sarah Rooks and husband Jerome, Velma Underwood, Linda Lewis and husband Virlan, Sharon Underwood and husband Lee all of Brunswick, Debbie Underwood of Springfield and Vanessa Daniels and husband Jeffrey of Waycross, several nieces and nephews.
