Sandra was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Alfred Vicent, her parents, Edwin Ward Vaughn and Barbara Alice Woodcock Bryant, brother, Edwin Ward Vaughn Jr., daughter, Amanda Lee Pearce, and niece, Laura Ann Strom.
She is survived by her son, Roger Wayne Pearce Jr., her beloved granddaughter and caregiver, Heidi Lee Arnold (Andy); grandson, James Michael Pearce, granddaughter, Cassandra Joy Pearce, great granddaughters, Alexia Lee Gibson and Gracie Lee Lightfoot, great grandsons, Bentlee Andrew Arnold and Charles Kendall Ivey, great great granddaughter, Novalee Grace Garner, sisters Barbara Ann Smith, Samesa Bryant Goodson (Hal), and Melinda Lamar McGrail (Michael).
As the true matriarch of her family, Sandra loved and cared for everyone fiercely and tenderly. Although she spent 30 years as an exceptionally skilled dental assistant, her greatest gift was making family members feel important and heard. She spent her days baking delicious pound cakes, cross stitching, crocheting, and most importantly spending quality time with her grandchildren. She taught them about Jesus, picked them up from school, prepared their favorite meals, and loved taking them shopping.
She spent her younger years traveling the world with her husband. Together, they were adventurous and active. They spent time camping, whitewater rafting, fishing, canoeing, snowmobiling, and sightseeing.
Her sisters were also dear to her, and she visited with them whenever possible. It became a tradition to hang a welcome banner and yellow ribbon every time a sister came to visit with her.
Sandra will be remembered as a Godly woman whose life revolved around her family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her love and loyalty were unprecedented and unconditional, she was a living example of Jesus. Her wishes were that all in attendance don bright colors to represent the fruits of her joyous spirit, pastels were her favorite. Surely, Jesus has a welcome banner and yellow ribbon hanging in the streets of Heaven today.
The family will receive friends Thursday July, 25th from 4-5 pm, with a service to follow.
