

Sharlene S. “Peggy” Cox, 67, of Cedar Point, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012. She was born at home in Fannin County to the late Edgar Lee Shelton and the late Dorothy Towe Shelton. Sharlene was a devoted wife and mother. She was a loving partner with her husband in many business endeavors. Their main love was the seafood industry. She and Ben were in the business for 30 years. Sharlene was very dedicated to her three children and ten grandchildren. She delighted in the coastal views of her home that gave such peace to her soul. She had a love for gardening and travel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Harold Cox, Sr.
Survivors include three children, Ben “Chip” Cox, Jr. (wife Daphne) of Valona; Peggy Sue C. Licavoli (husband Chris) of Savannah and Edgar “Charlie Brown” Cox (wife Tammy) of Crescent. She has ten grandchildren and five great-grand children.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Darien with Pastor Danny Grace officiating. Graveside services will follow at St. Andrews Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Delaney, David Stephens, David Pilgrim, David Bluestein, Frank Williams, III, and Nick Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of the First Presbyterian Church of Darien.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday evening at Ben and Sharlene’s home in Cedar Point, in Crescent.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Darien Building Fund, P.O. Box 706, Darien, GA 31305.
