Thomas Douglas Broadbent

Tom, Tommy to his dear friends and mother, was born in Nashville, TN to the late Floyd and Devona Broadbent on September 27, 1941.

Tom was preceded in death by his son Jerry Broadbent; parents, Floyd and Devona Broadbent; brother, Jerry Wayne Broadbent; nephew, Chad Broadbent, his former wife Jaqueline Steelman Broadbent and his brother in-law; Jerry Steelman.

He is survived and missed by his wife Anita Gilliland Broadbent; his children Ty (Andrea) Broadbent of Winchester, TN, Dede (Michael) York of Normandy, TN and April Spain of Brunswick, GA. He delighted in being Paw Paw to 13 grandchildren: Tyler Broadbent, Rachael (Lukus) Ilaug, Austin Broadbent, Brittany Broadbent, Blake Broadbent, Caleb Cashion, Caitlyn Cashion, Jessica York, John York, James York, Blanton Spain and Palmer Laager. Tom was especially looking forward to meeting his first great-grandchild in October. He is also survived by his in-laws: Tammie Broadbent, Foy and Cindy Gilliland, Ruthie Perkins and Rosendo Fumero and Nancy King. Additionally, he was Uncle Tom or Tommy to many loved nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He loved his church family dearly and was so thankful for every brother and sister at Grace Harbor Church of Christ. He developed such a bond and friendship over 20 years with each one and more importantly with God and His Son, Jesus, through those relationships.

He was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend and Christian man. He was genuine to everyone he met and would listen, complement and give advice to all. And everyone loved him. Honest as the day is long and the kindest heart for the hurting and his family. He could be tough and firm but it was always out of love and you knew he was right in the end.

There are many things that could be said about all of his accomplishments in life, and there were many, but this is what he cared about most. His family, his friends and most of all his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 26, 2025 at Grace Harbor Church of Christ, 3651 Community Road, Brunswick, GA 31520 at 10:30 a.m.
