

Mr. Owens was a lifelong resident of Glynn County born the 5th of January 1939, son of the late Sheriff Mitchell E. Owens, and the late Peggy Ila Burns Owens. He was a graduate of Glynn Academy, and owner of Owens Auto Junkyard in Brunswick. Mr. Owens was also employed with Georgia Power as a plant operator, retiring after thirty four years of service. He is a member of the Gideon’s International, and Under His Wings Church of God.
Those who knew and loved David will remember him for his passion for NASCAR Racing. A loving husband, father grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the family reunions. In addition to David’s parents he is preceded in death by his grandson Thomas Paul Owens, brother Robert “Bobby” Owens, and a brother in law Leland Moore. Survived by his loving wife of twenty seven years Ronda Owens of Brunswick, Ga; four children Larry Owens, Edward (Debbie) Owens, Marie (Kevin) Herndon, and Lisa (Jeff) Guest, all of Brunswick, Ga; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers Mitchell Owens of Jacksonville, FL, Punky Owens of England, and Barry Owens of Hazelhurst, Ga; sister Peggy Moore of Brunswick, Ga; David is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock Wednesday, the 6th of September 2017 in the Brunswick – McIntosh Room at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., in Brunswick.
A funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o’ clock in the morning, Thursday, the 7th of September 2017 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, where the Pastor Chad Middleton is to officiate. A funeral cortege will follow the service to Palmetto Cemetery, 3412 Ross Rd., in Brunswick, where Mr. Owen’s will be laid to rest. Serving active pallbearers are Phillip Owens, Patrick Owens, Bryan Wren, Jeff Guest, Ross Tomlin, and Randy Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be the Gideon’s International.
