Vanita June Skeen

Vanita June Landreau Skeen, 75, of Darien, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11 AM at Crescent Baptist Church with a visitation an hour prior to the service.

June was born June 18, 1938 in Acworth, Georgia to the late Robert Page Landreau and Dessie Mae Gilliland Landreau. She was a resident of Columbus, Georgia for 15 years and later became a resident of Darien, Georgia for the past 43 years. June worked at Hercules as a Security Guard for many years and was a member of Crescent Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her three brothers: Robert “Junior”, Billy and Jack Landreau.

She is survived by her two sons: Augustus “Bubba” Skeen, Jr. (Cindy) and David Skeen (Rhonda); three daughters: Barbara Gordon (Donald), Jackie King (Fred) and Nicole Skeen; three brothers: Charles (Rachel), Ralph (Jane) and Jimmy Landreau (Carol); two sisters: Lynne Fisher (Walter) and Ann Nelson (Jay); 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crescent Baptist Church Youth Group or to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
