

Virgil Lee Scott, 70, of Darien, Georgia passed peacefully away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems. He was born in Titusville, Florida the son of the late Johnnie Mae and Henry Scott. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert T Poppell Jr.; and two brothers, David and Charlie Scott.
Virgil served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor. He could always make people laugh with his jokes. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and working in his yard. His most treasured worldly possession was his family. Virgil will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Virgil’s fond memories will be cherished immensely by his loving wife of 32 years, Shirley Scott; two daughters, Beverly Scott and Elaine Scott; three sons, Chris Scott (Angela), Jamie Scott (Heather), and Jeffery Poppell (Kathy); a daughter-in-law, Carla Poppell; two sisters, Mary Ann O’Neal and Patricia Scott; two brothers, James and Kenny Scott. Sixteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held between 6-8:00 PM Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 29, 2021 in Darien, Georgia at Whispering Pines Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Whaley and Rev Danny Stillwell officiating. The burial will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery with Military Honors.
